“Exo” - Cocobolo Burl – 6.5 x 3.5 x 1.25 - crustaceans have exoskeletons and this spoon has the quality of a crab’s leg – not intentional – I was simply carving toward a pleasing form but now increasingly I see that there’s a relationship to my childhood on the Chesapeake Bay and the many Blue Crabs I have caught and eaten. Cocobolo Burl is quite rare and the genealogy of this piece is extensive. First given to David Ellsworth by Bin Pho. David took what he could use and passed the remainder on to me.
