“Big Al” – Algerita Burl (Arizona) – 2002 – 14” x 6.5” x 2.75” – Collection of the Fuller Craft Museum – Purchased funded by Pat McCauley – Algerita is a Sonora Desert bush. This wood always has holes, cracks, and seems to have survived in spite of harsh conditions. Big Al seems like a bar bouncer of a spoon, a rough, tough guy with lots of battle scars.
