Arches - Macassar Ebony –

Sometimes a promising idea goes awry and thereby an opportunity arises
for quite a different piece. At the beginning this spoon was headed for
a completely different design but two areas of unseen hairline cracks
forced the removal of wood that made the first-choice form impossible.
Once the offending wood was removed this form gradually made itself
known. I liked the very fat bowl and the repetitive loops that make the
handle. It is mostly sapwood with heartwood (black) highlights.
