Cherry Ladle - 9.75 x 2.5 x 2.5 - 1980s - $2000. I was often told my spoons were too beautiful to use. This deep bowled ladle with a graceful handle was made early in my career and exemplifies the questioning of my spoons as function vs non-functional objects. The handle has a gentle twist that terminates with a carved detail. I was given some figured cherry salvaged from Boonesboro, NC. The donor claimed it was already very old at the time and it has darkened with a beautiful rich patinia in the years since it was carved. A custom museum quality powder coated steel stand was made by Mark Nantz for my retrospective, "Spoons to Stir the Soul", The Center for Art in Wood (now The Museum for Art in Wood), Philadelphia in 2022. Provenance: Rebecca Stelling; Artist Collection.
