Crossing Australian Snakewood 11 x 3.5 x 1.75 - Even with 30 + years
experience behind me it is rare to make a piece start to finish and have
no doubt about my idea and find no flaws in the piece of wood Terry
Martin, the Australian turner and writer, gave me this piece of
snakewood about 6 years ago it offered everything I look for in raw
material contrasting heart and sap, areas of high figure, interesting
natural texture, attractive weathering and dense wood that holds detail
very well almost intimidating in its list of virtues it sat near my
bench for years before I finally saw how to use that basket of strengths
- Im very pleased with the result - $2800 SOLD. Photography by Jim Osborn.
