
“Diamondback" – Australian Snakewood – 9.5 x 5 x 3.25 -
Snakewood from Surinam is so named because it resembles snakeskin –
Snakewood from Australia grows such contorted snakelike forms that it
came to be called snakewood. In this case there was a hairpin turn
roughly where handle meets bowl – I carved thru the sapwood to produce a
repetitious pattern on the handle – The handle arched across the bowl
making some of the bowl carving pretty awkward - $2880 -
